Announces the 2014 NT Face of Fashion Week

The fashion forward gathered under the splendor of the Vic Courtyard to herald in the launch of this year’s 2014 NT Fashion Week program.

This year’s NT Fashion Week builds upon the foundations built last year and ramps up production values across all events. Three runway shows will be held at the Darwin Convention Centre and provide a spectacular platform for NT designers and retailers to showcase their collections while simultaneously providing fashion lovers with the ability to get the latest looks for 2015.

The Runway Shows will be super streamlined this year and due to popular demand we have added the ability to buy straight off the runway with our newly introduced “Shop the Runway”. An initiative which is a first for the NT,” says Creative Director Mehali Tsangaris. “In fact all events this year have ramped up production values so audiences can expect spectacular fashion shows and glamorous side events.”

The jam-packed program will feature seven events across seven days showcasing the latest designs and trends from eight fashion designers, four jewellers, four milliners and eight retailers from right across the Northern Territory.

Event highlights this year include a Garden Party for which already there is a waiting list. To be hosted inside at Kerry’s Automotive Group on Sunday 26th October its main showroom will be transformed into a Hanging Garden featuring over 7000 tropical plants thus providing the perfect backdrop for our top jewelers and milliners to showcase their latest creations. TV Celebrity fashionista and all round business guru Henry Roth will be presenting a dynamic business luncheon on the very relevant subject matter of 10 Steps To Take Your Brand International.

The highly anticipated announcement regarding the winners of this year’s  NT Face of Fashion Week held the stylish crowd in suspense as it was revealed that Gabi Borchers a 16 year old school girl from Alice Springs, and Henry Boeck an 18 year old law student from CDU stepped into the fashionable FOFW shoes representing NT Fashion Week for all to see.  Their faces have been splashed across all promotional materials including the front cover of this year’s NT Fashion Week program.

I’d like to congratulate the Four Finalists, Sarah Little, Anthony Avery, Gabi Borcher and Henry Boeck. It was a tough decision, but Henry and Gabi were selected for a number of reasons including their fresh and natural qualities. I look forward to seeing all four finalists on the NT Fashion Week runway and beyond. This opportunity provides all four models with a platform to shine; from there who knows what their future holds but they have our blessings,” says Mehali.

Minister for Arts and Museums Matt Conlan attended the launch said it was great to see Central Australia represented at this year’s event. “The Territory Government is a proud supporter of NT Fashion Week and we are keen to see it grow as part of our FestivalsNT program into a truly Territory-wide event,” he said. “I encourage everyone to attend the shows and celebrate Northern Territory fashion.”

With this year’s event I truly believe NT Fashion Week has arrived, with plans for 2015 already in motion and promises to take things to a whole new level”, but for now enjoy and I look forward to seeing you on the red carpet for an extravagant week of fashion and entertainment,” says Mehali.
