JamSpeak
The Universal Language for Musicians
It’s often that the simplest idea grows to become a great innovation leaving us wondering why we never thought it up ourselves.
JamSpeak is one of those ideas. Created by a second generation piano tuner out of Byron Bay, NSW – JamSpeak teaches a signalling method to use with band members while jamming or rehearsing and will save bands hours in rehearsal times. In the same way a conductor uses his baton and hands to communicate with his orchestra, JamSpeak’s creator Reuben Barkley has developed a musical sign language that is simple and easy to learn. Featuring clear photographs and instructions this method is destined to make a musicians life a lot smoother.
Performing over the years with a variety of band line ups, Reuben tested JamSpeak at shows in cafes, country halls, festivals, large outdoor dance parties and touring with national and international bands. Frustrated at the lengthy delays, interruptions and inability to communicate that plagues rehearsals and jam sessions, he created the worlds first established system of musical sign language AND it is working.
“JamSpeak has to be the best way to communicate non-verbally in an ensemble or jamming situation. I wish it had been around when I started playing music. It would have saved hours of frustration” – Pat Davern, Grinspoon guitarist
With over 5000 downloads in more that 20 countries, JamSpeak is available as a smart phone app (iPhone, iPad and Android) and textbook (Amazon.com). Musicians can become proficient in just a few hours and can then in turn teach their band mates ensuring best practice at all times.
It’s only a matter of time before JamSpeak becomes a universal language for musicians.
